  • AS Ila og Lilleby Smelteverker was founded on 5 December 1936, marking the start of the company we know today as FESIL AS.
  • In 1973, FESIL AS established a marketing representative in Duisburg, Germany, FESIL Legierungshandel GmbH.
  • FESIL’s ferroalloy plant Rana Metall is first and foremost singled out by its efficiency. This modern plant was founded in 1989 in Mo I Rana, Norway.
  • FESIL METALES was established in July 1992 and is running an office in Madrid. The company mainly sells to the Spanish steel, foundry and galvanizing industry.
  • Luxalloys S.A. was founded in 1995 in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The company has a wide portfolio of material and is known for its international networking. FESIL AS acquired Luxalloys S.A. in 2007.
  • The strategic participation of FESIL Legierungshandel GmbH in GfM Gesellschaft für Metallurgie Hafner & Polte mbH can also be described as a milestone. GfM, for its part established on 24.11.1976, has expanded the trading portfolio to include pig iron and alloying briquettes. The company, henceforward trading under the name of GfM FESIL Gesellschaft für Metallurgie und Legierungshandel mbH, has over the years experienced continual expansion of its product range.
  • Founded in 2009, SSAI is a joint venture company headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA owned 75% by FESIL Sales SA and 25% by the RUUKKI Group. SSAI specializes in the sales of high grade LC FeCr’s for specialty steel applications. However SSAI distributes many different ferroalloys and metals to the steel, foundry, and trade sectors of the North American markets
  • FESIL Legierungshandel GmbH and GfM FESIL GmbH were merged and rebranded to FESIL SALES GmbH, as well as Luxalloys S.A., that has been renamed to FESIL SALES S.A.
    As of 2012, all FESIL trading companies have rebranded and streamlined their work flows under FESIL SALES.

  • MFC Industrial Ltd. announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a 100% interest in the FESIL AS Group ("FESIL"), a vertically integrated supply-chain management company with a production facility in Norway, sales companies in Germany, Luxembourg, Spain, United States, India and China, and an interest in several quartz deposits in Spain.
