Preserving and improving the environment is not only a worldwide
mandate, it is also one of the company objectives of FESIL SALES. Hence,
FESIL SALES have paid attention to the REACH Regulation (Registration,
Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals, Regulation (EC)
No 1907/2006).
REACH lays down rules on the use and placing of substances (like metals) with the aim of identifying their intrinsic hazardous properties. Appropriate risk management measures are recommended all along the supply chain.
The main aim of REACH is to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by certain substances (chemicals, metals and mixtures).
Any legal entity or physical person in Europe who manufactures or imports a substance within the framework of REACH, either on its own or in a mixture, in quantities of 1 tonne or more per year, is required to submit a registration dossier to the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki.
FESIL SALES have completed the first phase of substance registration in compliance with REACH. In accordance with Article 20(2) of REACH, the ECHA has concluded the completeness check of all submitted registration dossiers. This registration entitles FESIL SALES to import these substances into the customs territory of the European Union. FESIL SALES has thus met the first registration deadline set by REACH. Nine substances may now be imported into the EU without restriction.
Registering these substances on time was an important milestone for us. It enables us to supply our customers within the European Union with important metals and alloys. This will allow not only access to the EU market, but will also improve the quality and safety of metals life-cycle.
Based on this, FESIL SALES have put in place an extensive communication system along the supply chain, in particular by giving full consideration to the uses of their products. REACH helps improve worldwide, systematic and sound knowledge of all our products. This activity has been made possible thanks to the excellent work of the metal consortia and lead registrants who made an outstanding effort to achieve registration well before the deadline laid down by the chemical regulation.
FESIL SALES have put in place a team with the external assistance of Ewald Langenohl, REACH senior expert and managing director of REACH Advice GmbH, in order to complete this phase successfully.
Along with REACH, FESIL SALES are actively implementing the
requirements laid down by the European CLP Regulation (1272/2010
Regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and
mixtures) according to hazardous substances and mixtures.
